Henry Every an English pirate whose aliases include Henry Avery, John Avary, Long Ben, and Benjamin Bridgeman. He is most famous for being apparently one of the few major pirate captains to retire with his loot without being arrested of falling in battle. He was described as "the most celebrated sea-rover of his day" and his seizure of the Great Mogul's treasure ship, a prize of some 5.2 million rupees, and "the richest single crime in history".
